Good Enough Is Not Enough: Why We Built a Custom Dashboard and App for Our Property Owners

By Faturoti Kayode, Co-founder of Homevy

When we say; “From Owners, To Owners,” we mean it.

Building a custom owner dashboard was never in our roadmap.

Like most property management companies, we started with the standard dashboard that came bundled with our property management software. It checked the boxes on paper—it displayed properties, showed bookings, and tracked some metrics. That should be enough, right?

Wrong.

As property owners too, we found ourselves increasingly frustrated with the experience. The default dashboard was rigid, unintuitive, and frankly, overwhelming. Loading multiple screens just to find basic information about our properties and guests became a daily exercise in frustration.

Then it hit us: if we were struggling with this interface, what were our property owners experiencing?

The Moment of Truth

We had a moment of reflection. The question wasn’t just “Is this dashboard good enough?” but rather, “Is this the experience we want to give the property owners we cherish so much?

The answer was a resounding no.

We then asked ourselves, “Is building a custom dashboard a priority right now?” Based on our project pipeline and resource allocation, the logical answer was no—we could leave things as they were and focus on other stuff.

But at Homevy, we value intentionality.

It’s one of our core RIQHT values (Reliability, Intentionality, Quality Service, Hospitality, Transparency). And that means every decision we make is deliberate and purposeful.

So we took the leap and committed to building something better—a property management app and dashboard created specifically for our property owners—completely designed with their needs in mind.

Building A Custom Dashboard and App for Property Owners

We asked: What do property owners actually care about? What information do they need at their fingertips in an app? How can we simplify their experience…while providing meaningful insights?

The result was a straightforward, intuitive dashboard and app that focuses on three key areas:

1. Property Portfolio at a Glance

Property owners can instantly see all their properties under Homevy management. No searching through menus or clicking multiple pages—just a clear, visual representation of your entire portfolio.

2. Active Guest Monitoring

An important aspect of property management is knowing who’s currently staying in your property. Our dashboard prominently displays all active reservations under our management, including:

  • Property location (especially if you have multiple properties with us)
  • Check-in and checkout dates
  • Current guest information
  • Length of stay

This transparency gives our property owners peace of mind, knowing exactly who is enjoying their space at any given moment.

3. Upcoming Reservation Visibility

Our dashboard also provides clear visibility into upcoming bookings, allowing owners to:

  • Anticipate occupancy
  • Visualize their booking calendar at a glance
  • Identify any potential booking gaps that need attention

By clicking on any reservation, owners can dive deeper into the details, including guest information, booking value, and specific dates.

The Homevy Difference

What makes our dashboard truly special isn’t just what it shows—it’s what it doesn’t show.

We deliberately avoided the common mistake of cramming every possible metric onto the screen. Instead, we focused on creating a clean, uncluttered UI/UX experience that prioritizes the actual information property owners need.

This intentional approach to design means:

  • No irrelevant menus
  • No excessive data points
  • No technical jargon that requires translation
  • No confusion about what different numbers mean

Just clear, actionable information presented in a way that makes sense.

What Are Property Owners Saying?

Since launching our custom dashboard and app, we’ve received incredible feedback from our property owners. The most common response? “Finally, I now understand what’s happening with my property–all from the app!”

This clarity translates directly into confidence—confidence that their investment is being properly managed, that guests are being well cared for, and that Homevy truly understands what matters to property owners.

As one owner put it: “For the first time since I started renting my property, I feel like I can see exactly what’s happening without having to ask a bunch of questions or dig through reports.

Providing the Best Property Management Service In Dubai: The Journey Continues

Our journey from using a standard, cookie-cutter solution to building something custom wasn’t the easiest path. It would have been simpler to stick with the status quo. But at Homevy, we’re not interested in what’s easy—we’re interested in what’s right.

That’s what sets us apart. That’s the Homevy difference.

The dashboard we’ve built today is just the beginning. As technology evolves and our understanding of owner needs deepens, so too will our entire property management experience.

But one thing will remain constant: our commitment to intentionality.

We won’t add features or services just because we can. Every new addition will be purposeful, deliberate, and designed with our property owners’ actual needs in mind.

And this is why property owners throughout Dubai trust us with their valuable investments. Because when we say we’re “From Owners, To Owners,” we show it in everything we do, including the tools we build.
