When we started Homevy…everything was moving too fast.
It felt like raising a newborn: beautiful, messy, and over before you can say “good morning sunshine ”.
We needed a way to reminisce, to look back at the journey, and remember the moments that shaped us.
At first, we considered making a video series, but that would take too many resources, and we were already knee-deepin building the company, barely catching our breath.
On the flip side, writing our journey seemed simpler, but then came the big question:
“Who Would Take on the Responsibility Every Month?”
The answer: everyone. One month at a time.
That’s how Homevy Happenings was born, our internal newsletter – where each month, a team member takes the pen and gives us the tea on everything that went down that month.
Since we started, watching the internal chaos when it’s someone’s turn to write is always fun. “How do I even start? What do I include?”… The other day, Karen admitted she couldn’t sleep the night she realized it was her turn to write . The nerves are real, but here’s the twist: once it’s published, the feeling is pure joy.
Over time, it’s become more than just a memory log.
It’s also a way for each of us to understand the company beyond our own department. You might be in operations with little idea what the tech team is building, but when it’s your turn to write, you suddenly become an investigative journalist: asking questions, digging for details, and writing it all in digestible format.
The impact has been bigger than we imagined. We’ve kept memories, built bridges between teams, and sparked curiosity.
And now, we’ve added a podcast edition. Every quarter, we sit down and gist about the past three months, which we post on Instagram.
To sum it up… why does this matter?
The truth is, if we don’t write our stories, nobody will. Ten years from now, it’ll be nice to look back at these pages and remember where it all started and how far we’ve come.
Until then, adios.
